So, I saw @hevanderson ‘s take on a Glee x Descendants crossover, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it until I made my own version (with a few ideas pinched from their post, because some of them were just too good to change, so I’ve marked those ones with stars!)

Glee cast sings Chromatica by Lady Gaga (plus Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack)

Chromatica I + Alice sung by Tina Cohen-Chang

-first of all, the Chromatica tracks are interludes, no singing only instruments playing, now onto Alice, this is about overcoming obstacles no matter how hard they are, looking for wonderland even if you’re not Alice, also this whole song just reminds me of the steampunk aesthetic she wore for one episode in season 2

Stupid Love sung by Marley and Unique

-silly pop song about wanting someone to love back, in this case, Marley to Jake and Unique to Ryder, this could maybe either happen at Sadie Hawkins or at Wemma’s wedding, both scenarios fit in my head

Rain On Me feat. Ariana Grande sung by Blaine, Brittany, Kurt and Santana in season 6

-this song talks about how there will always be haters in this world, there’s nothing you can do about it, so let them rain on you, this is just what glee was building up on the later seasons with Klaine and Brittana, a lot of people don’t know this, but glee had an enormous place at gay marriage getting legal in the United States, and just how Brittany said, they lost, gay marriage is legal, be homophobe and mad all you want, we’re happy, as a gay man, this interpretation of the song means so much to me

Free Woman sung by Quinn Fabray

-I think it became a regular thing to give the feminist songs to Quinn, this wouldn’t be any different, it was clear that all of the boys Quinn liked (minus Joe and maybe Puck) where all due to status, once she grew up she realized status and power were not important in her life, neither would a random man be, she’s a free woman now

Fun Tonight sung by Kurt Hummel in season 2

-this song brought me back to season 2, Kurt was definitely depressed there, in performances like Only the Good Die Young everyone is dancing while he is the only one not into it, and this songs talks about that, despite all of the happiness surrounding him he just couldn’t be happy, it wasn’t until he met Blaine that he really became happy again, everyone say thank you Blaine!

Chromatica II + 911 sung by Emma Pillsbury

-oh wow Emma’s here! I found it hard to chose someone to sing this, considering it’s about having to use pills and medicine, and well, just like Dope in ARTPOP I’m gonna do a different interpretation, in this case, the song would refer to her ocd, and how it affects her brain in an unhealthy way, and how she actually takes medicine to treats it

Plastic Doll sung by Quinn and Rachel in season 1

-this would be an open letter to Finn, while Quinn cheated on him first he still cheated on her as well, while Rachel was obviously hurt from this whole situation, where she wanted him, and so did he, but he chose Quinn instead, they would sing this together saying how they’re not dolls that he can play with

Sour Candy feat. Blackpink sung by Kitty and Tina

-a song about having to be sweet or you’ll be considered a bitch, who else should sing this if not the two biggest bitches of the glee club? I don’t want to have Tina sing in Korean but she’s the only one that could sing so yeah, she would sing Gaga’s verses and the Korean ones while Kitty would sing Blackpink’s English verses

Enigma sung by Quinn Fabray

-I don’t really have a lot to talk here, the song is about being misunderstood but to be honest I only chose Quinn cause I thought her voice would fit her, not much to add

Replay sung by Mercedes, Quinn and Santana

-this song refers to having to overcome traumatic experiences in your life, these 3 went through a lot, Mercedes went through less than the other two but her voice would fit like a glove so she sings as well🙂‍↕️

Chromatica III + Sine From Above feat Elton John sung by Finn and Kurt

-I always wanted furt to have a duet once they became brothers, the two of them had to overcome a lot since they were little and that’s exactly what the song talks about, also by the end of the song there’s a huge shift in the song and some crazy drums start playing and that’s Finn Hudson coded

1000 Doves sung by Sam Evans

-this song talks about needing help of others, you can try hard but sometimes we need help, and that’s fine, one of glees best storylines was Sam’s financial problems, the glee club was really supportive in season 2 and season 3, even Blaine who wasn’t fully aware of his condition was worried about him in season 4

Babylon sung by Mercedes and Tina

-this song talks about gossip, obviously the two gossips queens have to sing this, the song also has a few ancient religious references such as the Babel tower and of course, Babylon, and I guess Mercedes would do good with this song

Love Me Right sung by Rachel Berry in late season 3

-she would sing this while confused about whether she would stay at Lima for Finn or go to New York for herself, this would be an open letter from Rachel to Finn, asking if he would still love her even if she went away, the song also talks about Gaga being short and I also wants Rachel to sing this

Bonus: songs that aren’t from the album but are from the same era

Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick Soundtrack sung by Noah ‘Puck’ Puckerman in season 5

-he would sing this around the time he join the air forces, I could explain with my own words what this song means but I’ll let Gaga explain, “When you feel lonely, sad, removed from the world, far away from yourself and others. One day you may even be strong enough to hold your own hands.” While he was physically strong he was a very weak person emotionally, and I guess it went worse after Finn’s death, this would be him singing to his best friend, brother and other half

And wrap, I was gonna make a whole post for top gun maverick until I realized this is the only singing track, anyway, that’s it, next one if Love For Sale and it will probably come on first week of January, bye ;)

You and Sebastian were on your way to the coffee shop, you were listening intently to what he was telling you about his new favourite song, when you feel someone tap you on the shoulder. You spin on your heels and turn, seeing your friends from McKinley and Glee club.

“We were headed to the cafe and then headed to the corn maze. Did you want to come and join us?” Marley asks and you look over at Sebastian. This was the first time that you’d gotten to spend with your boyfriend in the last two weeks because of rehearsals for competitions. Mr Schuester and Finn were in the middle of a rut and so that was kind of affecting your progress but you were hoping that today would just be about the two of you.

“Um, I think Sebastian and I-” but Kitty cuts you off 

“Seriously Y/N, how do we know you're a team player if you're choosing your boyfriend from the opposition, might I add, over us?” she’s standing in your personal space now and you feel intimidated.

“I am a team player but I’m allowed to spend time with Sebas-”

“She’s allowed to spend time with whoever she wan-” but you and Sebastian are both cut off by Ryder saying

“Come on Y/N/N, it would be a lot of fun if we were all there together”. You look at your team mates and then over at your boyfriend in time to hear him mutter

“Don’t listen to me, listen to them. Go enjoy yourself” you shake your head and entwine your fingers with his

“I’m sorry guys, but today is my date with Sebastian. Plans that we’ve had booked for a while. You’ll have to tell me about the corn maze on Monday” you say dragging Sebastian with you towards the cafe. When the others are out of ear shot Sebastian says

“You didn’t have to do that Y/N, you could’ve spent time with them if you wanted” he says and you shake your head. 

“What I want is to spend time with you, and to not think or talk about glee club for the time we have together” you tell him, raising an eyebrow and he nods, squeezing your hand as the two of you resume your walk again.

What if Glee did Wicked?

I saw this post by Kevin McHale on X (formerly Twitter) and it made wonder what would have been the casting if Glee did a production of Wicked, like they did for West Side Story, Grease, etc.

And I think the answer depends on the season.

I think the casting would reflect the storylines so :

Season 1

Rachel as Elphaba ; Quinn as G(a)linda ; Finn as Fiyero.

Because it was the season where they were kinda fighting over Finn, and it would have created more drama if Rachel had to sing ALAYM on stage with Finn, and with the public seeing that they have chemistry. Quinn would have been livid.

It would also have been quite early in the season, before we see too much of her being pregnant (because "A PREGNANT TEENAGER ON STAGE?? Are you crazy Will ? The parents will be livid. I have to agree with Sue, you can't do that!" ~ Principal Figgins). Also it would have been before Jesse came because he would have been Fiyero with no hesitation.

Also, Brittany and Santana would have been Pfanee and Shen Shen, it's obvious.

I think that Mercedes would have been Madame Morrible, and for the Wizard I think it would have been Puck or Kurt, depending on what Will choose.

Now, for Nessa, you probably think that it should be Tina, BUT Nessa is in a wheelchair, and Artie is too. I could picture him trying to play on that, be like "I'm really in a chair, I should get a chance to have a role that is about someone who is in a wheelchair". I don't know if he would win that argument or not, but it could have been funny.

Then Boq would be the one who didn't get the Wizard, so Puck or Kurt, and Matt could be Dr Dillamond. (He would finally had a solo!). I think that Mike didn't really sing then, so he wouldn't have audition for a main role. But maybe he could be the lion?

And if Artie got Nessa, Tina would be Dorothy.

Season 2

So, in season 2, Kurt moved school, so he wouldn't be in the play. Mike sang more, Matt left, Sam and Lauren joined.

I think the main casting would stay the same, but maybe Sam would have auditioned for Fiyero and would get the Wizard.

I also don't think there would have been a lot of changes with what I said previously. For Boq/Dr Dillamond there's Harry and Puck. Mercedes would still be Morrible. I don't know if Lauren would have auditioned for a role. Tina would be whatever left too.

Season 3

Season 3 is more interesting because there are new members of the New Directions: Sugar, Rory, Joe (aka Teen Jesus), Blaine.

The musical of season 3 was West Side Story, and it took place in the first episodes of the season. Meaning that Wicked being later would change a lot of things.

I think that the musical should take place when Quinn is in her wheelchair because it would mean that she could play Nessarose, and Artie's argument about being the only one in a wheelchair wouldn't work. Plus, Artie was the director (I think? I remember him being of charge of the auditions) of West Side Story, so he could direct Wicked.

So at the time where Quinn was in a wheelchair, Rachel was having an existential crisis about the NYADA, and being overdramatic and saying that her Broadway dream was over, that she could never be in a Broadway musical. Which means that it would be the perfect timing to not give her the lead.

With Quinn as Nessa, maybe Teen Jesus Joe could be Boq.

So, Elphaba could be Mercedes, Blaine would probably be Fiyero, and Santana could be G(a)linda.

The Wizard would be Kurt, and Morrible could be Tina (or Rachel if needed to give her a role).

Sugar would be Dorothy (we need to give her a role) and Rory would be Dr Dillamond.

Puck would probably be ensemble or not in the musical at all since he was at this moment where he had to retake an exam or so he wouldn't be graduate. So maybe he could have been forbidden to be in it until he got his exam.

Brittany and Mike would be the choreographers.

Seasons 4/5

Now, with the new cast we would have Marley as Elphaba, Kitty as G(a)linda and Jake as Fiyero.

The had that rivalry over him, kinda similar to Quinn/Finn/Rachel so it makes sense.

Unique would be Morrible, Blaine as the Wizard, Sam as Boq, Tina as Nessa, and Ryder as Dr Dillamond.

Brittany as the choreographer, Joe would probably have disappeared when they would do that. And Artie would direct.

I won't try doing a casting for season 6 as the newbies weren't really the focus, plus the season was so short, I don't see where they would have time to do a musical.

Looking at old blog posts, many years ago I did a "100 favorite female characters" list, but I have met so many wonderful new ladies now that it is quite out of date and needs a major update to accommodate them. International Women’s Day seems like the perfect time to do so!

Marry the Night sung by Elliot ‘Starchild’ Gilbert in “A Katy or a Gaga”

-I’ll say it right away, I think this cover is better than the original, I’m not ashamed to say it, maybe just a bit, Elliot’s version of the song is just so good you can’t love, would be better if he was in drag but that was too woke for Ryan Murphy

Born This Way sung by Kurt, Mercedes and Tina in “Born This Way”

-this is one isn’t better than the original but it’s also very good, I couldn’t imagine someone other than Kurt to say the little monologue at the start, Mercedes and Tina also kill in this song, however I’m still pissed they cut the “no matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life” from the episode when Kurt just came back and Santana is dealing with her sexuality, it just fits so much, I also don’t like the shirts, I’d do something like Wanna be Startin’ Something and have all of them dance while wearing a Gaga outfit

Government Hooker sung by Puck and Rachel in “The First Time”

-I imagine this as Rachel trying to prove to Artie that she can be sexy while being a virgin, she would ask Puck to help, and while he does great with his bad boy charm she would once again rock the “sad clown hooker” look, I’m not sure if Puck could do a Dutch accent but it’s worth to try

Judas sung by Joe Hart in season 4

-two words, Kitty Wilde, Joe had no storylines this season, and if I’m being honest I think they were trying to push a romance between these two before deciding to create that random romance between Kitty and Artie, either way it could be interesting seeing Joe singing this, as if “Judas” was tempting him into sinning, and I mean, what is Kitty if not a little satanic version of Quinn Fabray?

Americano sung by Cassandra July in “The New Rachel”

-I don’t like this mash-up🫣, I would either stick with Americano or Dance Again, since this is a Gaga post that’s what I’m sticking with, it’s not all that spectacular but it gets the job done, Santana could do the song justice but I rather not have the only Latina sing this

Hair sung by Quinn Fabray in “The Purple Piano Project”

-Skank!Quinn deserved a song! This song feels almost like a coming out scene, making a connection between hair and freedom, since it’s the only body part we can change without judgment, guess what happens with Quinn’s hair this season

Scheiße sung by Brittany, Quinn and Santana

-honestly I just want Quinn and Santana singing a feminist anthem, their voices would work a lot, and it kind of matches their season 4 selves, just throw Brittany singing the “German” parts and there, you have an amazing trio

Bloody Mary sung by Tina Cohen-Chang in “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle”

-this would be PEAK goth Tina, she and the girls would be in their zombie make up on stage teaching the glee guys and the football players how to be scary and zombie-y, Mr Schue and the gluys would hype them up while the football guys would be confused and a little scared, Tina was really robbed of solos on the show and I think she deserved this one since her only actual solo in season 2 was cut less than halfway through

Black Jesus † Amen Fashion sung by Mercedes and Quinn

-this was hard to choose, but after analyzing the lyrics as well as the background of the song I think these two would fit quite well, Black Jesus represent a different view on both religion and life in general, which for me fits Quinn’s character, while Amen Fashion represent how easy it is to change just like your fashion, which after thinking really represents Mercedes personality change from season 3 to 4, she obviously became more mature and a better friend for me, they’re also Christian which was another reason to assign them this song

Bad Kids sung by Noah ‘Puck’ Puckerman in season 3

-this song is very Puck coded, especially his “Lima loser era”, the song starts with a heavy guitar solo but the guitar is barely used after that, if Puck would sing it, I would make the song way more rock n’ roll to fit his vibe during the end of the season, also the song is about embracing yourself for however you are, and I guess Puck would embrace his bad kid side

Fashion of His Love sung by Mercedes Jones in season 5

-this song was made for Mercedes Jones in her adult phase, being a tribute to Alexander McQueen and Whitney Houston, it fuses elements from McQueen’s fashion, Whitney’s inspired beats and several references to religion and god, this had so much potential on being a church choir song

Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) sung by Brittany and Kurt in “I am Unicorn”

-I was actually dumbfounded when this song wasn’t featured at all in the episode, like, the episode is named after unicorns what do you mean, this could be one instance where a character just starts singing, which would be Brittany and another one joins in after being confused with the sudden singing, which would be Kurt

Heavy Metal Lover sung by Kitty Wilde in season 4

-this would be the song Kitty would choose to confess her love for Ryder, which would be actually very funny since this song is so kinky and bdsm-y and Ryder is objectively the most vanilla guy ever, I can totally picture him being all 😃 during the whole song, sadly for Kitty, Ryder doesn’t reciprocate her feelings

Electric Chapel sung by Elliot and Santana

-I actually don’t have idea for an episode or season where this song would fit, the only reason I chose this two is because I think their voices would fit the song, also because this is my favorite song from Gaga ever, and I think they would do it’s justice

The Queen sung by Marley Rose in “Diva”

-Marley doesn’t sing in the episode at all, she could sing this to show that despite being shy and sweet and kind she can still be a diva, or in this case a queen, also this song may be a tribute to Freddie Mercury and it’s kind of a coincidence since Blaine sings a song by him on the episode

Yoü and I sung by Shelby and Will in “Mash Off”

-I’m not a hater or this mash-up but I am a fan of this song, so no mash-up, Will does sound really good but he sings more of the other You and I so I’d distribute the lines a little more equally between the two, Shelby does a decent job, the song originally talks about a past relationship of Gaga, but I guess lyrics wise it can also be a song of Will wishing the New Directions could be together again, it was never shown but I know he was sad over the girls leaving, they were kind of his daughters, Shelby is just giving support, hate this woman

The Edge of Glory sung by Mercedes, Quinn, Santana and Tina with the Trouble Tones in “Nationals”

-this song was done great, I have no complaints, Santana sing in the start is the best part for me, Quinntina slay their verse and Mercedes does excellent as usual

And that’s it, this was really fun to write, I absolutely love this album, it’s by far my favorite, the next one is ARTPOP, and I’ll admit I didn’t like this album at first, but upon re-listening to it opened my eyes to its perfection, see you next week or so :)

Gleeful paintbox project #5: Previously unaired. Create an outlandish concept for a glee episode

It's play season at McKinley and they decide to do High School Musical!

This is during s5, Finn is alive but is not with Rachel, still in college but helping Will with glee club. Klaine is still engaged. Jake still cheated on Marley. Britt is not a genius so she's still at McKinley and she and Santana miss each other.

This ended up looking sort of like a mix of plots of Diva, The role you were born to play and Glease but I just placed the songs to the people I pictured, sorry if it looks like I didn't give some characters much to do, I also tried to fit some fan favorite couples even if they're not my cup of tea.

It's a looong double special episode to fit all the songs I liked because I want to lol.

The High School Glee Club Musical Madness Part 1

Finn starts the lesson saying they need to be a team to win at Nationals so he sings Getcha head in the game with Ryder, Jake, Sam, Artie, Joe and Blaine.

Blaine auditions for Ryan with Breaking free (just imagine this in his voice omg).

Meanwhile in NY:

While working at the dinner, Santana tells Rachel and Kurt she's tired of working there and says she deserves something better so she performs Fabulous while everyone in the dinner treats her like a queen. And Kurt sings the Ryan bits because Kurtana supremacy 🙌.

Back to McKinley:

Blaine got the Ryan part and all the girls (except Marley) wanna play Sharpay because #iconicqueen 👑

Unique: Make no mistake, Unique is the most and only capable one of honoring Miss Sharpay Evans.

Britt: No, I have to play her because I'm blond.

Kitty: I'm the top bitch here so the role is perfect for me, I'm not playing another random character like who the hell is Patty Simcox.

Becky: Shut up bitches, Sharpay is my spirit animal.

Sugar: You're not even in Glee club, besides I'm the only one here who has enough money to play her so 🤷‍♀️.

Tina: Well, you're all wrong because only a real diva can channel Sharpay and don't forget who won the last diva off 💁‍♀️.

Blaine in the background looking at them: 🤨😐

So they have a diva off singing A night to remember (I see them singing and trying to upstage one another like Sharpay and Tiara in HSM3, picture also Call me maybe or Diva but just with Blaine, Finn and Artie in the auditorium looking at them confused lmao).

Back to NY:

Rachel and Kurt get roles for plays so they sing I want it all (this is such a Hummelberry song, you can't tell me otherwise, just picture the actual HSM3 scene but with them).

Back to McKinley:

Marley auditions (for Gab obviously) with When there was me and you (It's a little mid season so it's after Jake cheating). Also an Alternative version for this song, a duet between Marley and Quinn. Rachel calls Quinn to tell her she misses Finn but she can't go back to Ohio. Quinn realizes she has always had feelings for her. She hangs up and sings the song in the hallways of Yale (like Gabriella in HSM). I imagine the scenes intertwined with Marley singing at McKinley and Quinn at Yale (This is a treat for Faberry shippers and also cause I believe Quinn's voice on this would be perfect).

Kitty, Unique and Tina get callbacks for Sharpay so they sing What I've been looking for with Blaine to see who has better chemistry with him. They start upstaging each other again and they kinda make Blaine aside to show who's the better Sharpay and they change the song, so this turns into a mashup with Bop to the top (Picture the Zack and Cody scene of bop to the top, sorry for the quality, is the best one I could find but it's in Disney+ anyway lol).

Ending: Even tho we didn't see his audition (because too many songs already), I'd like to think Sam is a huge HSM fan so he gets the Troy part and Marley gets Gabriella, in the end they're rehearsing in the auditorium while Finn and Artie watch, they sing I just wanna be with you. Jake is watching from far. We see transicions with other couples while the song goes:

Klaine talking over the phone while watching HSM.

Britt and Santana looking at pictures of each other.

This two couples sing in their parts instead of Sam and Marley (it´s a group song), and in the end we're back in the auditorium but Finn imagines himself singing and dancing with Rachel (yes, kinda like in You're the one that I want).
